Invitations to Kid Birthday Party

If you are going to organize a kid birthday party, the first thing to do are invitations. You can buy invitations in many fun themes. And these invitations can be personalized invitations with your child’s photo, name, age and party info.

But if you decide to make invitations, then you’ll need first of all a bit if imagination. You can also ask your child to help you with cutting, pasting, coloring, or applying stickers to the invitations. Be sure, your kid will love the process of making invitations very much!

After the invitations are ready, next step is to decide, how to deliver them. You can simply mail invitations. However it’ll be nice, if you have a chance to hand-deliver the invitations (to neighbors, classmates or team mates). It can be done in different funny ways. Again, all depends on you imagination and time. For example, you can hand-deliver a note in a bottle for a Pirate Party or a toy dinosaur enclosed with a Dinosaur Party invitation. It’s up to you!

But you should keep in mind that in many schools school teachers do not allow birthday party invitations to be distributed at school unless all children in the class are invited.

Remember that invitations should be timed to reach the guests approximately two weeks before the party. It’s important, because this interval gives enough time for guests to “hold the date”. It also allows enough time to collect RSVPs before you make the final purchases of party supplies. Please, request RSVPs by phone or e-mail one week before the party. Some parents may ask for gift ideas when they call to RSVP. So have a few ideas in mind!

So now a few words about the information that an invitation should provide the guest with:

  • party occasion
  • party host (your child’s first and last name)
  • day and date of party
  • start and end time of party
  • party location and address
  • RSVP deadline and phone number and e-mail address
  • rain plan (if outdoor party)

You can also include special information or requests, if needed. For example, you can write few words about costumes required for the guests, if it is planning to be a theme birthday party.

If you want parents to stay for the party, then include this infirmation in the invitation or simply discuss it when you accept the RSVP. Otherwise, it will be assumed that it is up to the parent if he/she wants to stay. Many parents will certainly  stay, if their child is younger than five years old.

If you can’t accommodate siblings of invited guests, tactfully discuss this when you accept the RSVP.

If the party location isn’t well known, then you should enclose a map.

And the last but not the least  are Thank You notes. Please, don’t forget to buy them and send after the party.
